Allie's trip to Costa Rica

Costa Rica!

Time to wake up! It is 5 Am on Tuesday morning. It is a 2 hour long car ride to the Charlotte Douglas Airport.  But on the way we have to pick Joe up from a MacDonald’s in Asheville NC. We arrived at the airport around 7:30 or 8:00am.

Going through security and checking baggage I personally thought was going to be a bear but it turned out not to really be that bad. It took us about an hour for us to get though both and arrive at our gate.  Upon arrival at the gate we all prepared to sit down and have a short wait at the gate. HA.  Ya right we sat at the gate for a good hour, hour and a half before they told us that our flight was having difficulties and that we had been moved to a different plane.  It was quite annoying and we all hurried over to the opposite side of the airport to catch our flight.

Once on the airplane we sat back and relaxed. It was very nice just not doing anything for a change.  Touching down in Costa Rica’s San José was really amazing seeing that I have never been anywhere really outside of the country except Russia.

San Jose Costa Rica was just amazing. The cultures, foods, clothes and other things caught me by surprise seeing that I didn’t really expect for it to have MacDonald’s, Subways and Wendy’s. It was kind of funny to see all of the everyday things that you would see in everyday America. “It’s a very home like feeling.”

Our first night in Costa was spent getting into the flow of Costa which included checking in the Backpackers hostel and going into the small market s and buying food and just walking around and seeing all of the sights and smells of everyday Costa Rica.

Then the real fun began. We first went to the mountains of Costa Rica to go Zip lining, horseback riding up the side of a volcano and swimming in the hot pools. My favorite memories from the hot pools was went I was going very slow down the slide to try and make Anna mad and she just slid down the slide after me and we both went flying out the end of the side. It was extremely funny. The other fun thing was sliding down the slides on our knees and going insanely fast it was lots of fun though. I also learned that the pools were heated by the volcano!! It was really, really interesting to learn about.

Next we went down to the Coast of Costa Rica to Surf, Boogie board and just play in the water.  On our first day at the beach we went down to the beach and just played in this little cove like place that was in a national park. It was really fun and I think that everyone really enjoyed just having a chill day at the park.

The next day we went surfing, buggie boarding. It was boat loads of fun and we all had a great time just chilling out and having fun in the waves.

Then we went back to San Joe and then went home and here we are. All in all it was an amazing trip to be a part of and everyone did a great job on the trip! Good Job Guys!

Some of my most memorable moments I had in Costa Rica would probably be zip-lining through the canopy at 60 miles per hour.  The second thing would be going really fast down slides (at like 20 miles per hour) at the Hot Springs at Los Lagos.  The third most memorable moment would most likely be when we went horse-back riding up the side of a volcano.
One thing I learned in my time in Costa Rica was that the people of Costa Rica is that their culture is a lot nicer than ours here in the united states of America.  Another thing I learned while I was in Costa Rica would have to be they have really good food such as Chang, which is a juice that looks like fish eggs, and Soda in a Bag, which is what soda was served in at a roadside restaurant we went to. Additional, I learned that Costa Rica has McDonald’s.

Josh Costa Rica adventure

The two best things about my trip to Costa Rica Arethe jungle because of the noise of the animals monkeys birds etc. , the beach animals like hermit crabs, birds like birds of paradise, and monkeys again.

The most adventurous things I did were zip lining in a jungle by Volcano Arenal and I saw gibbons, which are very small monkeys. I went horseback riding up an active volcano.

The best things I ate were Flan and Tampico and tamales.

Two things I learned there were Costa Ricans as an ethnic group are very nice generally, and I like jungles.

One thing I'll never forget are monkeys, monkeys, monkeys, monkeys, monkeys, monkeys and monkeys.

Costa Rica was awesome! We went to San José, La Fortuna, and Manuel Antonio.
In San José, we stayed at a backpackers’ hostel and bought street food. Of course, I GOT A PAT DOWN ON THE FLIGHT IN!!!!! Every time except the flight back to the U.S. in my life I have gotten a pat down.
After San José, we went to La Fortuna. We stayed in cabins right next to Arenal, which is a VOLCANO. We did really fun activities, including riding horses up the volcano, swimming in the hot springs, and ziplining down the volcano. The slides at the hot springs were so fast that at the bottom of the slide, it felt like “Splash! Good morning!” The ziplines had blocks on them to stop you from hitting the tree at the end. “Wham! Good morning!”
Next we went to Manuel Antonio. We went to the beach and went surfing and boogieboarding. I rode in on my back on the boogieboard. THE TRIP WAS AWESOME!!!

Costa Rica expidition Seamus

Costa Rica was amazing, the environment, the culture, and of course the food . One of the dishes we appetized  was at a soda which is pretty much a side of the road  restaurant .We got to select a meat (mine was chicken) then you got fried plantains rice, beans and salad .
The vegetation was amazing it was like National Geographic  amazon expedition .
Our group completed a good amount of school work .For me it was hard to concentrate because I was just distracted .
We went horse back riding which I enjoyed even though most of the time I hate it.
Almost all are group got sick .I think because water and food changes .
In the short run and the long run we had a great time .It was great to speak Spanish again even though I don’t appreciate it as much in Mexico. I’ve learned that other people are as important as me and I’ve learned patience and utter significance of :please, thank you ,your welcome and sorry .

I have so many favorite memories from this semester. During the Florida Keys expedition I had two favorite parts. I loved fishing in the boat with Richard. I had caught three yellow snappers. On our last day at the Keys we went shopping. I really enjoyed watching the street performers.

On the Florida Everglades trip, I enjoyed watching the turtles and dolphins while I was in the canoe. While I was in the canoe Maggie and I got to know each other more.

The Outer Banks trip was really fun. I enjoyed watching when we went to the Roanoke Festival State Park. I learned a lot about Roanoke and the people that settled there. I was really amazed when the people showed us how they did blacksmith work many years ago.

There were a lot of things that I enjoyed while we were in Costa Rica. My top two favorite parts were horseback riding and going to the beach. I have had so much fun this semester.

This expedition we went to Costa Rica. It was a whole lot of fun! We did so much stuff. First we stayed at a backpackers Hostel in San Jose. The night we arrived we went downtown to go shopping at the market and eat at all of the cool places around downtown.
After that, we went to La Fortuna and stayed at a cabana. We got to go horse back riding up a volcano, zip lining in a rainforest, and we went to a water park at Los Lagos Resort. It was really fun going down the water slides on my knees because we got to go super fast!
Then we went to Manuel Antonio and stayed at the El Mono Azul Hotel. The girls dorm was the biggest. It was a 4 story dorm that people called "The Tower". The boys was only one story. ): We got to go to the beach and swim. We also got to surf and boogie board! It was a lot of fun watching people fall off. That night we went to Kapos and ate dinner and walked around for souvenirs. I got a souvenir for my whole family.
After all of that, we went back to San Jose for our last night of Costa Rica. We got to shop around and it was crazy. We went all over San Jose and it was really fun.
Our Costa Rican expedition was beyond my favorite out of all 5 expeditions that we have been on, it was amazing.
