My birth was very overdue. My mother started to call me Sea (which is pronounced like Shey ) since I can remember. My name is Seamus Walker. I am 13 and live in Mexico and am currently residing in
North Carolina. My hair is short and light brown. I have an oval shaped head, medium small nose, narrow shaped shoulders, medium sized arms, medium sized torso, medium long legs and huge feet about 11 men's .
My family members are:Mary Walker, Grace Walker, Patrick Farinholt, Karin Margolis, Abby Marglis, Nicki Margolis, Max Margolis, Jennifer Margolis. My mother (Mary Walker) is one of the kindest and most patient people I know, not just with my family but with others almost all the time. My sister is sarcastic and loves gymnastics and excels at it. My dad (Patrick) and step mom (Karen) teach and eat almost all organic food.My mother is one of the most important people in my life. She's the one who got me to "SOAR". My sister is also one of the most important people in my family well because she's my sister.
Some of my favorite things to do are: hang with friends, eat great food and just regular food, go to movies, mountain biking, swimming, playing video games (but not too many of course),etc. These activities sometimes have been painful and really fun. My life so far is good partly because I am going to "SOAR" I don't want to go into the past and don't have any real idea for the future.

BLOG (anna)
This expedition, we worked super extra hard on our teamwork. We decided that instead of arguing like our previous expeditions, that we would get stuff done.
We improved so much stuff using teamwork. We could meet deadlines, and we were a lot more timely. We barely wasted time. By the end of the week, we could go a full clean up process without staff to guide us. We also improved a lot on P.T. We got our runs done in less than 6 minutes!
Another thing that we did as a team was have fun. We included everyone in what we did. There wasn't one time that I can think of when we excluded people. It is true that you have more fun with more people.
I will continue to encourage our team to carry on this tradition as our transition to base.

JK’s processing blog
In this blog I will be talking about frustration. It will be kind of like a processing blog; well I guess that it really is is it not.
Some things that are frustrating to me are, 1: When people make high pitch noises. 2: When people are rude or disrespectful to me or others. 3: When people ask the same question over and over again.
Frustration causes several different things. One of these things being irritability. Personally irritability makes me snap at people easily and it also makes me kind of angry.
When people make high pitch noises it really hurts my ears and it also makes me really angry. It also makes me really mad when people are rude or disrespectful to me, others, or authority figures. Another example of something that people do to make me angry, mad, and annoyed is ask the same question or say the same sentence or phrase over and over and OVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!
In conclusion I have quite a few things that frustrate me. This is like a drop of water in the Pacific Ocean or an air molecule in the atmosphere for example. That is basically what I shared with all of you compared to all of the rest of my frustrations. =?{3E))))
Good bye, I love you all, love JK.

For months away from my parents
is
hard. Especially at age 13 and when you have a nice family. As you can tell, I
am talking about some challenges and characteristics I have. The second hardship I faced was a six-day canoe
trip in the Everglades I achieved this challenge with sheer effort and
willpower. Another hardship is the
morning run sometimes on mountainous terrain sometimes on flat terrain.
Especially when it's cold or hot.
This
I overcame this with help from staff and friends.
These
are some positive characteristics I’ve brought to soar. The first is a cool
attitude and collected head. This has given me the ability to calm down
quickly. The second trait is endurance. Example: I’ve endured a lot of hard
situations. I’ll list the minor ones. Cleaning the cabin or van. These are the
positive characteristics and challenges I’ve faced at soar.

Sarah Wolfe’s Blog Prompt 5 3/16/12
During this
semester I have been a huge help to the team. Whenever the group started to
bicker, I would remind them on what we are trying to earn. It takes some time
for the team to either listen or agree with me.
One of the
very best things I did to help the team out this expedition, would be reminding
them the rules of the full value contract. I reminded the team by sometimes
telling them the rules. I also try to let staff handle the situation.
One of the
challenges I faced was controlling my frustration. What I did to handle it was
to let either yoda or staff handle the situation. It is sometimes hard for me
to not to say anything but I know if I get into the conversation it will just
get worse. So that’s why I’m glad that I don’t get into very many fights.
When my
parents told me that I was becoming a leader for my team, I felt very proud of
myself. I feel that I have been really improving this year.
Peter's OBX blog
When I came to SOAR, I had many traits. These traits have helped me a lot this past expedition. For example, I have kept group morale up by making dumb jokes. You wouldn’t think that impatience would be a good quality to have, but it actually is. It helps get things done more efficiently. It also decreases the amount of time that the group has to start drama. This group has a really bad habit of making mountains out of molehills.
Another trait which helped me this past expedition is my determination. It helps our timeliness and teamwork. It helps prevent negativity as well.
Another thing about me is that I am very task-oriented. I love the feeling of accomplishment that I get. I also stress out when something needs to be getting done and isn’t
This group has had many challenges, and I think that I have helped a lot to get through them.

Allies Trip to the outer Banks
THE OUTER BANKS!!!
Our trip to the Outer Banks
Hello Everyone, I hope that
this blog finds everyone well. For these past few weeks my group has been in
the Outer Banks. We played on the dunes of Jockeys Ridge that towered above us
and fished on the beach. I learned about
the future and the power behind hope from the Wright brothers. I also learned
some of the ideas that NASA has for the future including Airplanes that would
be like cruise ships and planes that can go faster than sound.
I would
have to say that is trip was probably one of my favorite trips thus far. My
favorite parts were learning about the future aircrafts NASA is going to build
and is building.
Another fun thing that we did on this trip was we went to
Jockeys Ridge State Park. This is home to some really big sand dunes! It was tons
of fun flying kites and running on the dunes.
The wright Brothers museum was amazing and very
informational. We learned about how they lied, what their dilemmas were, how
they fixed their problems, and what life was like back then.
All in all I personally had a fantastic and amazing time
in the gorgeous and beautiful Outer Banks.

JK’s 3rd expedition
On this past expedition, we went to the Everglades. In the Everglades, we went canoeing, swimming, and saw alligators, maybe some crocodiles too. We also stayed in a Chickee, which is basically a little platform on stilts above the water. Maggie kept saying that it was floating but it really wasn’t. There were some items dropped through the cracks of the Chickee, It was kind of funny T.B.H. (to be honest). It was also kind of sad because we lost one or two tent poles as well.
Dan forgot ALL of his tent poles and had to use the sticks he found at the camp sites we stayed at. At the last two or three campsites we stayed at he used some of the paddles. =?{bà X?{D ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ahhhh my god that’s funny. Lol. We have some broken tent poles now. Not going to say why (not because it was me (because it wasn’t) but yeah, pretty much.
In school we learned about the Seminole Indians who were native to the Everglades. It was a fun subject for me because I’m part Native American Indian. I'm not sure what tribe I am from but I do know that I am not a Seminole. Eh oh well. Hey mom, if you could send a letter saying what tribe I’m from that would be great=J. We saw two bald eagles and several ospreys, one was carrying a cat fish in its talons.
All in all it was a pretty good expedition. The ospreys, the bald eagles, the alligators and crocodiles, the Chickee, Dan forgetting his tent poles, learning about the Seminole, swimming, getting a good workout from the paddling and just the Everglades in general was a lot of fun at the good times.

Sarah Wolfe's blog 3/1/12
Sarah Wolfe’s Blog 2/28/12
Last year I
have learned a lot of things during each expedition. I have learned not to ask
for help as much. Instead I thought about the question in my head and figured out if I should ask or not. Last year
whenever I needed help I didn’t say anything until I talked to staff. So far I’m doing an awesome job this year.
One of the
challenges I have had this year was motivating and helping my team out. Even
though I am the oldest kid in the group I’m still trying. Most of the time I
feel like becoming a leader. I’m learning how to handle some things on my own.
I’m really
proud how much I am getting done here at SOAR. I just know that after I’m done
here, I’ll be using all the skills and lessons that I have learned while I was
here.

Opportunity
of a life time, to the paddle the Everglades in canoes.
The trip was awesome. We really enjoyed
this trip. This is the account of our memories of the trip…
The first day we travelled 5 miles in canoes with no
motors against wind, against tide.
The first day we had a couple problems such as some
partners didn't work out so they had to be switched. Someone had a shutdown
because they had borderline disregard for human life specifically the members
of the group. I will not name names.
It was a ridiculously long day...
We paddled 10
miles which a lot of paddling in one day.
This trip is long , in fact very
long . 43 miles and a half is nothing to shake a stick at.

I learned many things on this expedition. I learned that not
everything is something I need to know about in this group. I also learned to say out of other
peoples business. The most important thing I learned is to just go with the flow
and step up when I need to. This
lesson is making me a more helpful part of the group.
First, I learned that not everything is something I need to know
about in this group. For example
I need to mind my own business about personal stuff like girl boy stuff and
personal issues with others.
I also learned to stay
out of other peoples business. An example is when AC Anna and
allie where having a problem I learned to stay out of it.
I think this is important because
it is part of life to not know everything and I feel that I am learning that.
The most important thing I learned is to just go with the flow and
step up when I need to. This
lesson is making me a more helpful part of the group.
I’m still making mistakes, but yet I am learning from them. I still
miss my family though. But I have learned to deal with most of my homesickness
by being funny and forcing myself to laugh and love my life. I also feel way
stronger about my team and myself.
We are doing
better every day and days go fast at Soar!!!!!!!
Peter's Everglades blog
I have learned a lot here at SOAR. The most important thing that I learned was the need to be silent.
Chris told me that he would buy me a snack if I was completely silent until we started paddling. It was hard, but I did it and got a creme egg as my snack. Now I am better at being quiet and not making people feel as frustrated with me for being loud. Being loud also slows down the team by making everyone want to call a group to make me be quiet.
Being quiet really helps me succeed in life. It also helps others succeed in their daily tasks without being bothered by me. I suggest that everyone take a little bit of quiet time every day to help with success in anything because it helps to gather up thoughts.
Allis Blog for the Everglades!
Hey Everybody! I hope that this blog finds
everyone healthy and well. On This trip we all went to the Everglades National
Park!! And paddled 4 leagues!! It was totally amazing and incredible to be in
such an amazing experience!
On this trip I
also learned a lot about myself and who I am (time that I really needed).I
learned things that i didn’t even know! Like that I was capable of being such
an amazing friend and leader. So basically I learned some new things about myself
and also re-learned others.
For
instance one thing that I re-learned was that I am strong and persistent. One
example of this was paddling. Sometimes when my body would ache and would get
tired. I would just want to give up and just sit in the canoe and just sulk and
not move. But then I would realize that that really wouldn’t be fair to my
teammates and so I would just keep going put on a smile and make it through
another very long day, and
try and keep my team positive.
Another thing I
learned is that I am very good leader and that I can just step up and pick up
all of the slack that the team puts down. An example of that was when
everyone was tired and I just put up the
tents and put the stuff together. I worked with members of the group who were
going through a hard time and just didn’t want to move and I helped them get
back up onto their feet and keep pushing on.
I just wanted to
say thank you to everyone in this group for putting up so much effort and doing
such an amazing job!! WE are totally better than Outward Bound! Loves you all very much.
Best Wishes,
Allie Carson Bridges
